Wir sind am 7. September in Salzburg angekommen. Am 8. September sind wir in die Stadt gegangen. Wir hatten eine Liste mit vielen Aufgaben. Wir haben viele Plätze in Salzburg besucht.
In GRM 202 we have studied the German poem Zeitsätze by Rudolf Otto Wiemer. Afterwards the students were asked to write poems with a related structure about their Christmas break. We have voted on the best three of them and: here they are.

On the first of December the 201 German class went to eat a Thanksgiving meal with their Austrian pen pals from the ABZ St. Josef.
On Friday the 19th of November, the Salzburg group visited Mauthausen, a former concentration camp from World War II. The dreary rainy weather reflected perfectly the somber mood within the group. Outside the camp itself we viewed memorial statues for the thousands of lives lost within the camp. It was a startling awakening for so many of us who had never been exposed the tragedy of holocaust before.

Für Deutsch 201 haben wir eine E-Mail Partnerin vom ABZ St. Josef bekommen. Am 15. Oktober sind die Schülerinnen vom ABZ St. Josef ins Center zum Frühstück gekommen. Wir haben ihnen eine Tour gegeben und sie haben die Klassenzimmer, Studentenzimmer, Wohnzimmer, Esszimmer, Küche und Bibliothek gesehen. Dann haben wir ein typisch österreichisches Frühstück gegessen. Wir haben Semmel, Käse, Joghurt und Obst gegessen mit Apfelsaft, Kaffee, Tee, Orangensaft und Milch getrunken. Wir haben mit unserer eigenen E-mail Partnerin in Deutsch gesprochen. Wir haben ihr Fragen gestellt über Salzburg und Österreich. Nach dem Frühstück sind sie zurück zur Schule gegangen. Wir werden sie wieder im Dezember für ein typisch amerikanisches Erntedankfest sehen. (Alyssa Oue, Amelia Reynolds)
Am 9. September sind wir, die Salzburger 2010-11, ausgerückt, um die Stadt zu erkunden. In kleinen Gruppen haben wir eine Vielzahl von Fragen über die Stadt, ihre Bewohner und ihre Kultur beantwortet – alles auf Deutsch. Die Fotos zeigen Ausschnitte davon, was wir gesehen, gemacht und gelernt haben.
